Smith Charities
  • Tradespersons Grant: $1,200 for those completing an apprenticeship in an eligible trade by age 21.
  •  Nurses Grant: $1,200 for nursing students who graduate as registered or licensed practical nurses.
  •  Widows Grant: Annual financial assistance starting at $600 for widows with at least one child under 18.
  •  Brides Grant: $200 for first-time brides aged 18 or older (application within 90 days of marriage).

  • Scholarships: Grants for students attending Greenfield Community College, focused on supporting local educational initiatives.

Historic Deerfield
  •  Summer Fellowship Program Grant: Covers tuition, room and board, and field trips for college juniors and seniors studying history and material culture. Additional financial assistance is available for travel or lost summer income.
  •  Conservation and Preservation Grants: Funding for projects like conserving Colonial War prints and restoring historic buildings (e.g., Dr. Thomas Williams’ home).
  •  National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Grants: Supports public programs, digitization of collections, and educational initiatives.
  •  Research and Educational Grants: Funding opportunities for graduate students conducting historical research.

Deerfield Cultural Council
  • Cultural Council Grants: Funding for local arts, cultural diversity projects, youth development programs, and community engagement initiatives. The FY25 allocation is $6,100.

Deerfield River Enhancement Fund:  
  • Grants for environmental preservation and recreational development along the Deerfield River Watershed. Eligible projects include trail work, educational workshops, media campaigns, and public access improvements.

Community Preservation Act (CPA)
  • Funding for projects related to open space preservation, historic resource protection, affordable housing, and outdoor recreation in Deerfield.

Food Security Infrastructure Grant (FSIG)
  • Grants supporting infrastructure improvements for local food producers. For example, Atlas Farm in Deerfield received $152,043 through this program.

Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts
  • Permelia A. Butterfield Scholarship: For orphaned children under 21 in Franklin County.
  • Edward A. and Shirley B. Livi Scholarship: For students pursuing fine or performing arts.
  • Stuart D. Mackey Scholarship: For graduates of Frontier Regional High School in South Deerfield.

Mt. Sugarloaf Lodge Memorial Scholarship
  • Available to graduates of Frontier Regional High School pursuing associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degrees. Requires demonstrated financial need.

Deerfield Plastics / Barker Family Scholarship
  • For children, stepchildren, or grandchildren of former employees of Deerfield Plastics Company or graduates of Frontier Regional High School.

Deerfield Academy
  • Financial aid covering tuition and fees for families earning less than $150,000 annually. Additional support includes travel expenses, health insurance, and school supplies.

Eaglebrook School
  • Need-based financial aid with an average grant award of $41,735 per student.

The Bement School
  • Need-based financial aid available to students from diverse backgrounds.
